Default PvE necro

Im more or less new to the game and i play a necro but i worry that when i join parties, for missions or whatever, that I never really contribute anything. The battle begins, i cast a few hexes, raise a horror when something dies and the battle ends. My hexes alway land when the mob is half dead and my horrors seem to bounce around from mob to mob landing just one hit on each because they are already almost dead when it gets there.

What I would like are some tips on how to be more effective in pve(or at least feel like I am).

Im lvl 13

Blood - 6
Death - 8+1
Soul - 4
Curses - 3

Im sure from what I have read on these forums that there are several issues with my bar or whatever but instead of ripping me why not offer advice? After all, that is why i posted this

Don't spread into all 4 attribs, run more soul reaping. Focus primarily into either Blood/Death or Curses.

Also carrying a res would be wise.

at low level's you should realy stay with just 2 attributes, with soul reaping being the first.. even at level 20 with a secondary profession, you shouldn't spread out more then 3 attributes.

if you go blood, then you want to focus on spike dmg + health recovery to regain what you sacrifice for the spike

if you go curse, then you want to stack curses that help each other (price of failure + reckless haste : suffering + faitheartedness - are examples)

if you go MM, then you need to raise more then 1 minnion - the power of the MM comes from having a big group of them. bring blood of the master to heal the ones you have and bring 2-3 different types so you don't have to wait for skills to recharge.
